Dr. Neo Cortex had finally captured Crash Bandicoot with the help of several minions, but not just any minions, they were stronger and they were all attacking at the same time. Everything was very well planned, Cortex had discovered that Ara was seeing Crash in secret, but he said nothing to her, since he preferred to take advantage of this to catch Crash when he least expected it. The evil scientist discovered which was the secret path by which Crash was heading to the castle, so he along with his newly created new minions stopped to wait for him. Cortex was very angry for all this wasted time trying to capture the Bandicoot, so he took this opportunity to hit him with his minions.
Meanwhile, Ara Bandicoot was outside the castle waiting for Crash like every night, but the hours passed and he still did not appear. "How strange, something must have happened to him." she thought with concern. The first thing she thought was that maybe something happened to Crash on the way, so she took the same path he usually takes to see if he could find it.
There were no traces of him, but what was strange is that his prints were on the ground. Right where the prints stopped, she managed to see one of the buttons of Neo Cortex's tunic that surely fell off when Crash tried to defend himself against his attacks.
Ara ran back to the castle and saw Crash tied but there was no one else there. "Oh my... You're very badly hurt Crash, those bastards went too far!" she said angry and worried. Quickly she untied him and helped him up. "I'll help you out of here, and as soon as you get out, I'll make those idiots suffer, no matter what."
At that time Cortex and his minions appeared. "Oh yes? What idiots are you talking about?" He said with a malevolent smile.
Quickly he aimed a machine that would fire laser at Crash, but luckily for the bandicoot, the machine was unplugged and that gave Ara time to stand in front of Crash and thus protect him.
"N. Gin! I told you to plug that thing in! Damn it..." Cortex shouted at his assistant. "So... Ara, do you want to go with him? Okay, I'll remove two pests at the same time." he added as he looked at both scared bandicoots. "This machine will make you both ashes in a second, any last word?"
Crash didn't want Ara to get in front of him, he didn't want her to be hurt, so he tried to push her away but she insisted and hugged him. "No Crash, I will go with you." she said between tears.
"Oh, what a ridiculous pair, I better shoot them before they make me throw up." Dr. Neo said heading back to the button. At that moment Crash saw one of Ara's brilliant guns in her pocket and took it quietly without the villains noticing. "Crash that gun has no bullets." Ara whispered, but he indicated to her that the gun was bright almost like a mirror, and she perfectly understood what he was planning.
When Cortex pressed the button, Crash quickly put the gun in front of him and the laser bounced back to his own machine, causing it to instantly burn and turning it in ashes.
"WHAT?!" Cortex shouted. The minions quickly ran to attack both bandicoots but these two defended themselves and managed to defeat them all. Crash and Ara slowly approached Cortex while he was shaking. "Do you know what was the first thing I thought when I discovered that several minions attacked Crash at same time?..." Ara said angrily, "I thought: it's not fair that several people fight agaisnt one at same time, but I think you deserve it. " she added. Both bandicoots gave Cortex his due after this until he fled.
Finally on Wumpa Island, Ara helped Crash to heal his wounds and then she accompanied him to his home.
Crash insisted her to go with him to his house. "I can't do it Crash... you have your family there, and I... I'm okay like this. I don't belong there." she said a little sad.
He did not agree with what she said, but he understood her decision anyway.
"I'm worried about you Crash, you're too hurt and I don't want you to get into more trouble, so don't get out of here until you get better. But hey, I promise we'll see each other again, you know I'll always be ready to protect you... or to kick your ass." she added with giggles. Crash hugged her tightly hoping for her to not leave, but she interrupted the hug after a few seconds and left.
"I do this to protect you." she said as she left.
